Welcome, winners!

The Alamo Drafthouse Kalamazoo gave 40 members of the public a sneak-preview tour last night.

Welcome, winners!

Almost one full year after Rave Cityplace 14 closed its doors, the Kalamazoo Alamo Drafthouse Cinema welcomed a few dozen future patrons for a sneak-preview tour Monday night. The 40 winners were selected by Alamo management and John Liberty of the Kalamazoo Gazette/MLive.

Publicist Katie Kostrzeba and Alamo manager Brian Mills prepare the bar area for the guests.

Alamo chef Brandon Gillies begins preparing the snacks that will be served; they will give the winners a preview of the kinds of foods Alamo offers.

Brandon baked up a batch of crunchy pretzel bread to serve with Alamo's celebrated queso.

The winners began arriving around 5 p.m. Many of them noted how impressed they were with the way that the Alamo designers had retained some of the old Rave touches while giving the building a freshened-up look.

Alamo general manager George Yarbenet led the tour.

George shows off the awesome 19-foot-wide BARBARELLA poster, which takes up the space that once housed a satellite concession stand.

Guests enjoyed samples of several Bell's Brewery beers that will be on tap at Alamo.

As the tour wound down, it was finally time to eat. Hot wings, fried pickles, pretzels with queso and hatch green chili were among the hors d'oeuvres.
