Stealing, Cheating, Killing. Who said romance is dead?
Not many movies can shake your bones and move your heart quite like TRUE ROMANCE. Tony Scott's indelible '90s masterpiece has all the things you love about Tony Scott filmmaking and none of the things you hate. It's frenetic, it's chaotic yet controlled...but most of all it's honest and true.
The same can be said about the script from a pre-PULP FICTION Quentin Tarantino. The dialogue is sharp, the monologues are insanely good and this story, above all else, is his most authentic and heartfelt. I think it takes a tremendous amount of effort to make you root for a love-at-first-sight pairing of a comic book shop worker and a prostitute traveling across the country to sell a suitcase full of cocaine, but, sure enough, it works. A great script and a director, though, would be nothing without it's cast.
TRUE ROMANCE encompasses the voice of a generation as Christian Slater leads an incredible team including Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Bronson Pinchot, Brad Pitt, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken and Samuel L. Jackson. So come get choked up with the rest of us this February as we celebrate the masterstroke of the dearly departed Tony Scott's career.
We have a special burger flight that TRISH EICHELBERGER crafted because, if you ever paid close attention to TRUE ROMANCE, every time something major happens, there's always a burger being eaten afterwards. If meat isn't your thing we'll also have plenty of pie to go around because "after I see a movie, I like to get a piece of pie and talk about it."
So if you're sad, come get glad and if you're fine come be mine this February at the Alamo with TRUE ROMANCE.
"Three words went through my mind endlessly, repeating themselves like a broken record: you're so cool, you're so cool, you're so cool." (Greg MacLennan)
