Learn about the man who taught Bruce Lee how to kick ass at screening of THE LEGEND IS BORN - IP MAN

One of the most fascinating characters in film of recent years has been Yip Man, the real life teacher to Bruce Lee. As played by Donnie Yen in IP MAN and IP MAN 2, Yip Man is a Wing Chun master who was born into a wealthy Chinese family before moving to Hong Kong to teach martial arts.

This month we will be showing THE LEGEND IS BORN — IP MAN, a new Hong Kong film that offers another perspective into the life of Yip Man. While the film is not related to director Wilson Yip’s IP MAN series, THE LEGEND IS BORN (or IP MAN ZERO) does feature actors Sammo Hung and Fan Siu-wong in supporting roles. As an added bonus, Ip Chun, the real life son of Yip Man, makes an appearance in the film.

THE LEGEND IS BORN focuses on Yip Man’s early life and how he first learned to master the martial arts style of Wing Chun.  Dennis To stars as Yip Man in the film, a sort of prequel to Wilson Yip’s IP MAN.

FUNimation Entertainment is bringing the film to the Alamo for a special one-night-only screening and we couldn’t be more excited. If you are a fan of great martial arts films and are looking to learn more about one of the most interesting and influential men of the last 100 years, make a point to check out THE LEGEND IS BORN – IP MAN.
