June Events Announced

School’s out for the summer!  In addition to brand new blockbusters like Prometheus, Rock of Ages, Madagascar 3, and Pixar’s Brave, we have plenty of special screenings and events in June.

First, we start a summer-long promotion called Alamo Kids Camp, which will feature FREE movies at 11 am each Monday – Thursday, June 11 – August 9.  In June, we will feature Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs from June 11 – 14, Flushed Away June 18 – 21, and Babe June 25 – 28. Tickets are available now at the box office only.

The Summer of ’82 continues, as we feature the best movies from the Summer of 1982 back on the big screen for their 30th anniversary.  Titles in June include Poltergeist June 1 – 4, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan from June 8 – 11, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial June 15 – 18, and John Carpenter’s The Thing June 22 – 25.  Tickets are only $4 for these films.

We will have midnight premieres for Prometheus on June 7, That’s My Boy and Rock of Ages on June 14, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter on June 21, and Ted on June 28.  Watch the website for the possible addition of more midnight premieres.

Broadway Brunch returns on Sunday, June 3 with An American in Paris.  See the classic film on a digital print with an optional brunch menu.

On Thursday, June 7, we welcome film director Vince Sweeney all the way from Los Angeles to the Alamo to introduce and screen his award-winning film Blue Ridge.  An independent movie filmed on location in Roanoke, VA, Blue Ridge won the Best Film award at the Virginia Independent Film Festival.

Rocky IV returns to the big screen for one night only on Tuesday, June 12.  Watch Rocky go toe-to-toe with the evil Russian Drago!

HECKLEVISION RETURNS on June 14th in a very special show.  The Popular Outcasts will present The Worst Movie Ever with director Glenn Berggoetz.  The director and The Popular Outcasts will provide live commentary during the film, and audience members can text their comments, the best of which will end up on screen with the movie!  This promises to be an amazing event.

Afternoon Tea continues on June 17 with Robert Altman’s Gosford Park.  The ticket price includes the movie, three teas from Austin, TX, and tea snacks.

Girlie Night continues June 20 with 10 Things I Hate About You, the 90’s gem starring Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph-Gordon Levitt.  We will feature a special girlie drink menu.

On Thursday, June 21, we will screen the film Extraterrestre (Extraterrestrial) for one show only.  The film is directed by Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes) and will be presented in Spanish with English subtitles.
