This holiday season, revisit the pinnacle of Christmas movies with three very special screenings of IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE.
Frank Capra’s 1946 tale of yuletide sentimentality may have been somewhat of a box office bomb upon its initial release but IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE has unarguably become the most widely known holiday classic this side of A CHRISTMAS STORY. James Stewart stars as George Bailey, a man visited by his guardian angel while staring down an imminent suicide. Taken on a tour of how much of an impact his life has had on his community, George is shown his true worth as a man.
This December, the Alamo Drafthouse is hosting three separate screenings across Houston. Whether watching IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE is a holiday tradition for you and your family or you’ve somehow managed to have gone through your life never having seen the film before, we’re giving you ample opportunity to see Capra’s classic film in the best way possible — on the big screen!
On December 2, we’ll host an early evening screening of the film at our Mason Park location as part of our Big Screen Classics series. We’ll have an encore presentation of the film on December 23 at our West Oaks location. This West Oaks screening will be hosted by local film critic Joe Leydon. Leydon will be on hand to give insight into the film’s production and legacy.
On December 11, we’ll screen the film as part of our Rolling Roadshow series at Market Square Park. This screening will be presented on an inflatable screen in the middle of Downtown Houston’s historic park. Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics are welcome and food, beer and wine are available for purchase at Niko Niko’s. More information can be found at www.marketsquarepark.com.
So, don’t miss out on your chance to see IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE this December at the Alamo Drafthouse. Whether you want to see the film under the Houston night sky or in the comfort of your favorite Alamo location, we have the perfect opportunity for you.
