2010: Give Us Your Feedback

I once again wanted to thank everyone for being a part of the fun this year. We hope everyone had a blast and can join us again next year.  We’re off to the races already, reviewing films, updating our tracking lists and thinking about new special events and filmmaker guests. By the way, 2011 film badges are on sale now (VIP badges sold out in 30 seconds).

Hello Fantastic Fest attendees,

I once again wanted to thank everyone for being a part of the fun this year. We hope everyone had a blast and can join us again next year.  We’re off to the races already, reviewing films, updating our tracking lists and thinking about new special events and filmmaker guests. By the way, 2011 film badges are on sale now (VIP badges sold out in 30 seconds).

On Wednesday, the Fantastic Fest staff is meeting up for our annual postmortem. If you have any suggestions for improvement, we would absolutely love to hear them. We try to improve every year.

Just so you know, here are a few of the ideas we are kicking around…

  1. Fixing the online ticketing system that gave us the headaches on opening day (top priority).
  2. Considering a new system for allocating VIP badges, maybe a lottery which gives a slight advantage to longtime veterans of the festival.
  3. Considering moving the festival entirely to South Lamar.
  4. Reviewing possible tweaks to the regular badgeholder ticketing process and standby process (in addition to online redemption).

I did receive one customer email complaint today from a regular badgeholder with his frustration about  not being able to see as many movies as he would have liked. According to our records, we were able to accommodate nearly all of the standby requests throughout the festival and we always had open movie choices at every single round of shows throughout the fest. We’re looking for a few more data points. If your experience is different, or if you have thoughts on how this should be handled differently, I’m very open to hear what you have to say.

I know there will be frustration in having to wait in any sort of line, but we developed our current system so that once you picked up tickets for the day and were guaranteed to see a movie (maybe just not your first choice) in any given round, then the hassle of lines would be eliminated from the rest of the day.

Our goals are to make everyone as happy as possible, to have everything run as smoothly as possible and to create a festival that is the best week of the year for all of our attendees. If we are falling short and if you have constructive advice on how to make it better for everyone, we’d love to hear it.

Put your comments on this blog post as we want to keep the dialogue in the open. I will compile the comments and report back via the blog later this week.

Cheers,
