2008 Academy Shorts start Feb 6 at Alamo Lamar!

Each awards season, the Academy (y'know, the Oscar guys) select a small handful of outstanding short films which deserve massive praise, but wouldn't otherwise be seen by people like us who don't get to travel to exotic international film festivals. Some of the best, most inventive and entertaining movies released each year are in these programs, and we take great pleasure in presenting them annually at our theater.

This year's two 90-minute programs will alternate so you can catch 'em back to back, and the shows include the following titles and more:

Auf Der Strecke (On the Line) - dir. Reto Caffi
New Boy - dir. Steph Green
Toyland - dir. Jochen Freydank
The Pig - dirs. Tivi Magnusson and Dorte Høgh
Manon on the Asphalt - dirs. Elizabeth Marre and Olivier Pont

Lavatory - Love Story - dir. Konstantin Bronzit
Oktapodi - dir. Julien Bocabeille
Le Maison en Petits Cubes - dir. Kunio Kato
This Way Up - dirs. Adam Foulkes and Alan Smith
Presto - dir. Doug Sweetland

...and yep, the Animated Shorts show is 100% kid-friendly!

For those of you fun-lovin' Oscar-hounds attending our outrageous Red Carpet Events at The Ritz, Village and the Red Carpet Feast at Lamar, this is your opportunity to have the scoop on which shorts best deserve the Oscar!

But no matter what, these films are entertainment distilled down to its purest form, and this is the only way to see 'em, so get your Academy Shorts tickets and Animated Shorts tickets now!
