AMERICAN HORROR FILM FESTIVAL

The American Horror Film Festival is a traveling film festival that selects a different host city each year to showcase some of the best horror films from around the world -- and we're proud to announce that Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Chandler, Arizona, has been chosen to host the 3rd Annual AHFF!

Submissions are accepted from all countries, there is no time frame for when the film must have been made by, and films with distribution already in place are also allowed to submit. The theme for this year's event is...Slashers! So bring on the blood! (That's not to say other films won't be shown - there are some classics for you to see, as well!) 

We'll have a special, limited edition themed menu during the fest!

7:30pm | Local Short Film: DEAD WEST
The sheriff of a small Western town witnesses a sickness quickly overtaking the locals. Along with his trusty Deputy Carl and plucky sidekick Annie, they try to save the town. Written and directed by Phoenix's own Kevin Kittle!

Feature Follows | IN EXTREMIS
Alex is a man with everything - the well-paid executive job, the impressive house in the country, and the beautiful wife and child. When he inexplicably decides to leave work early one Friday nothing will ever be the same again. Within hours of his return, a cataclysmic storm threatens to destroy everything around them. Isolated without power or phones this loving family descends into a nightmare of terror, violence and visions that threaten their very existence. In the confusion of past and present, Alex and his family have to face the real nature of the events - are they real or imagined? What if every parent's nightmare is happening to them? Followed by a live, in-person Q&A with star David O'Hara (THE DEPARTED, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., LUTHER, THE TUDORS)!

7pm | Special screening of the original FRIDAY THE 13TH!
In this cult classic, a group of camp counselors are stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to reopen a summer camp which, years before, was the site of a child's drowning. (Also, young Kevin Bacon!)

8:50pm | Feature Film: DARK BEACON w/Filmmaker Q&A 
This new horror-thriller follows Amy Wilcock who loves the married Beth Gadbsy with a fierce and tragic passion. When Beth's distraught husband Christian dies in an emotional intervention, the widow disappears with her daughter Maya into secret seclusion. Amy tracks Beth down to a distant lighthouse to find her broken and maddened and that the spirit of Beth's spurned husband will not rest until he takes the surviving trio with him to the grave. Followed by a live, in-person Q&A with award-winning UK filmmaker Coz Greenop!

1:30pm | Feature Film: BLESSED ARE THE CHILDREN
Traci Patterson (Kaley Ball), an adrift 20-something who's still reeling from the death of her father and her breakup with an abusive fiancé (Jordan Boyd), discovers that she's pregnant. With the help of her friends, Erin and Mandy (Arian Thigpen, Keni Bounds), she decides to terminate her pregnancy, but quickly after leaving the clinic, she begins seeing and hearing things - shapes in the corner of her eye, strange noises in the middle of the night, and ghoulish figures stalking her every move. Is it guilt or are Traci and her friends in grave danger?

5:45pm | Feature Film: BUZZARD HOLLOW BEEF
This story follows a family, who after experiencing vivid hallucinations, believe that they have been poisoned by cannibalistic hillbillies who intend to hunt them. Writer Tara C. Hall and director Joshua M. Johnson will be in attendance!
