Reel Orchestrette, with Bradford Reed on pencilina, drums, keys & Geoff Gersh on guitar, will perform a live original score for this 1920 silent film starring John Barrymore.

John Barrymore is captivating in his very first onscreen role in this 1920 silent film considered to be the first American horror movie. The contrast of Dr. Jekyll, a prim and proper scientist, to Mr. Hyde, a wild-eyed maniac, is impressive. Furthering the dark and light sides of the soul we have two women, one considered virtuous, the other a tawdry cabaret performer. This adaptation by John S. Robertson has impressively gloomy sets and creates an atmosphere that almost a century later remains unsettling.
