A Tom Hanks SEX COMEDY? John Erler from Master Pancake Theater here.  Are you tired of seeing Tom Hanks waste his talent on “important” pictures like Saving Private Ryan and Forrest Gump?  Are you looking to complete your collection of 30th-anniversary viewings at The Alamo?  Then come see BACHELOR PARTY (1984) on the big screen at The Ritz in 35mm!

Hanks plays Rick Gassko, a horny school-bus driver who decides to marry his sweetheart Debbie (Tawny Kitaen), a young woman with the soul of an angel and the looks of the girl from the Whitesnake videos (80’s Kitaen was married to Whitesnake’s David Coverdale).  Furious that Rick is about to marry into (their) money Debbie’s snobby family try to put a stop to the wedding by sabotaging the titular bachelor party.  And how titular it us.  Along the way to the happy ending, there will be nudity, strippers, prostitutes, drugs, a donkey, bondage and more!

There are some great performances from the supporting players and a ton of youthful exuberance on the part of T.Hanks, who is in 80’s Bill Murray mode, wise-cracking his way through the film like a real-life Bugs Bunny.  It’s a joy to watch Hanks unleashed, using the weapons in his comedic arsenal before he abandoned them in pursuit of Oscar gold.
