Austin, TX---Tuesday, January 4, 2011---Attention all “Users,” Master Control Program Alamo Drafthouse has placed 2 classic Tron arcade cabinet games in the lobbies of the South Lamar and Lake Creek theater locations in honor of Tron: Legacy, in theaters now. The games are set to “free play” and people can submit an entry form to win the Tron arcade game for their home. The drawing will take place on or around January 17, 2011.
The video game Tron was released by Bally Midway in 1982 and is considered one of the greatest film-to-game adaptations of all time. The gameplay consists of four subgames including the famous light cycle duel. The arcade cabinet also makes a cameo in the upcoming Tron: Legacy. It has become a collector’s item, valued at over $1,500.
