Summer is almost here! And nothing says "summer" like teenagers being menaced in a carnival spook house by a disgusting killer wearing a Frankenstein mask, am I right?

THE FUNHOUSE is the second sicko masterpiece of director Tobe Hooper's career. Like Hooper's THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE before it, this movie is a subversive blend of familial angst, psychological duality, dark comedy, and gritty violence. But that's where the similarities end. FUNHOUSE is an hallucinogenic explosion of neon, nostalgia, and dead teens. It's a valentine to a bygone age of creaky rides and animatronic monsters in the form of a sleazy slasher. Think AMERICAN GRAFFITI, but with more sex, deformed mutants, and people getting hit in the face with axes.

Plus, this movie is actually scary. Who needs Leatherface when you've got this much fun? (Joseph A. Ziemba)
