In 1989, two horror movies with identical plots were released. They both concerned a killer who meets his death in the electric chair, only to resurrect as a satanic hell-revenger. One of those movies, SHOCKER, was directed by a mid-sell-out Wes Craven. The other movie, THE HORROR SHOW, has a scene where the killer transforms into turkey puppet. In other words, we've got the good one. Sold overseas as HOUSE III: THE HORROR SHOW, an unrelated sequel to HOUSE, this is a delirious late-80s ass-scorcher. It has severed limbs, dumb dialogue ("All that electric chair did was give me a hard-on!"), and tons of Freddy Krueger plagiarism. All wonderful things. But what pushes this movie into another dimension of fun are the unhinged performances from Lance Henriksen (the loose cannon hero) and the late Brion James (the killer who says "fuck" a lot). The only thing that would make this movie better is if it was an unrelated sequel to HOUSE PARTY. (Joseph A. Ziemba)
