Ain’t It Cool, Austin Chronicle & Toy Joy present a 35mm screening of this classic film.

No other writer, before or since, captures the magic of childhood quite the way that Ray Bradbury does. Whether dealing with rocketships, Halloween or dinosaurs, his writing evokes feelings of awe and wonder and is fully alive to the mysteries, terrors and longings of being a kid. With a screenplay written by Bradbury himself, SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES is surely the greatest translation of his magical vision ever brought to the screen.

A turn-of-the-century fantasy about a mysterious carnival that literally blows into a small town to taunt and tempt the inhabitants by offering to grant their deepest wishes and wildest dreams, SOMETHING WICKED presents childhood in mythic terms. Two boys who only want to grow up, and a father (Jason Robards) who is afraid of growing old, discover the sinister secrets behind Mr. Dark's Pandemonium Carnival. With his collection of freaks and oddities, such as the Fat Man, Mr. Electro, and the blind Dust Witch, Dark intends to take control of the town and seize the souls of the townspeople for eternity. In the end love will conquer evil, but first we have to journey through the dark terrain of childhood dreams and nightmares in one of the spookiest films ever released by Disney. This is a beautiful fantasy for children and parents alike and is absolutely not to be missed.

As always, our generous sponsor Toy Joy will provide themed gifts to everyone in the audience. Thanks, Toy Joy!!!
