SLACKER

By now, you’ve probably heard about this huge SLACKER 2011 project we’ve concocted with our friends at Austin Film Society.  If not, here’s the idea in a nutshell: we’ve commissioned twenty-four of Austin’s best filmmakers to remake the scenes from the iconic film, and we’re combining it all together to create a remake that shows the changing face of Austin and celebrates its diverse filmmaking community.  The finished film premieres on August 31st at the Paramount, and all proceeds go towards the Texas Filmmakers Production Fund.  In anticipation of that, we’re showing the original film for anyone interested in revisiting that before they catch the remake. 

At both of the screenings, we’ll be premiering new remade scenes, and the filmmakers will be live to present their work.  Part of the proceeds for this event will go toward TFPF.

August 10 – The “JFK Assassination Theory” scene, as directed by John Bryant (THE OVERBROOK BROTHERS) and starring Chris Trew and Jen Tracy Duplass.

August 17 – The “Been on the Moon Since the '50s” scene, as directed by Berndt Mader (FIVE TIME CHAMPION) and starring Chris Doubek and Maggie Lea.  Star of the original Jerry Delony will also be live to share his thoughts on the new version.

At each of these screenings, the directors will be in attendance, as well as actors from the new and original versions of the scenes!!!

This is going to be your first chance to see scenes from the remake.  If you’re sitting at the edge of your seat waiting to see what these crazy filmmakers are up to (us included, we produced a segment!), now’s your chance.
