Known for making incredibly memorable title sequences (the Pink Panther movies, WHAT'S NEW PUSSYCAT?) as well as directing the animation for WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT?, visionary animator Richard Williams had a side project that he intended to be his masterpiece. Three decades later, THE THIEF AND THE COBBLER, not even near complete in his eyes, was taken from him and turned into a miserable musical cartoon. Thankfully we have PERSISTENCE OF VISION, a new documentary in which filmmaker Kevin Schreck weaves together much of the existing mind-blowing animation along with rare archival footage and interviews with those that worked with Williams along the way. Also be sure to get tickets for WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT? - the film which Richard Williams won a Special Achievement Academy Award - screening on 35mm!
