Based on the best-selling series by Daniel Handler, this delightfully dark film tells the story of siblings Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire, who, after the death of their parents, come to live with their new guardian, Count Olaf (Jim Carrey, in a role he was certainly born to play). Olaf's melodrama is only outweighed by his greed, and he makes the children's lives miserable while attempting to steal their inheritance.

Fortunately, the Baudelaire siblings are remarkably resilient, and Olaf proves to be no match for their cleverness and bravery. With a script as colorful as the set design, this movie is an enchanting testament to the fact that heroes come in all sizes.
