WITH MUSICAL AND LITERARY LEGEND RICHARD HELL IN PERSON
Cinema was still in its infancy in the early ‘30s, so imagine the breathless amazement audiences shared while witnessing the sheer majesty of KING KONG. More shocking is the fact that the film is every bit as effective a near-century later, its spectacle and tragedy undiminished by countless attempts to match it. From the dinosaur-packed jungles of faraway lands to the panic-stricken mayhem of Manhattan, The Great Ape’s shadow is permanently cast across our world, his towering iconic figure burned into the wide eyes of viewers of all ages. But as gargantuan as the big lug is, it only takes one look at wee Fay Wray to bring him to his knees, proving that even the world’s most powerful creature can be struck down by the fists of love. This very special screening will be introduced by musical/ literary legend Richard Hell, whose insights will be as thunderous as the beast itself.
Preservation funding provided in part by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and The Film Foundation.
THE FILM FOUNDATION SERIES

Joining Scorsese on the board of directors are Woody Allen, Paul Thomas Anderson, Wes Anderson, Francis Ford Coppola, Clint Eastwood, Curtis Hanson, Peter Jackson, Ang Lee, George Lucas, Alexander Payne, Robert Redford, and Steven Spielberg.
