Don Coscarelli is the creative cyclone behind PHANTASM, THE BEASTMASTER, and BUBBA HO-TEP. JOHN DIES AT THE END is Don Coscarelli's first full-length movie in a decade. It's a totally unpredictable (and totally awesome) horror-comedy gorefest with a gigantic frozen meat monster. These are all facts.
"Soy Sauce" is a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. In fact, it's so out-of-body that it enables users to achieve inter-dimensional travel. And also come back to earth as monsters. John (Rob Mayes) and Dave (Chase Williamson) are college dropouts that partake of the 'Sauce while trying to make a living as ghostbusters.
Naturally, an otherworldly assault soon threatens the entire universe and it's up to John and Dave to save humanity. That's where normalcy ends. Disgusting insects! Hell! Paul Giamatti as a curmudgeon reporter!
Based on David Wong's cult novel of the same name, JOHN DIES AT THE END is like a mutant three-way between John Carpenter, William S. Burroughs, and THE ICE PIRATES.
There are lysergic tangents, slimy creature effects, and seriously unhinged gags that will make you laugh. And then cringe. And then ask yourself how it's possible to have so much fun while wondering why your face has turned in to a bug. Basically, you'll never look at Soy Sauce the same way again. That's the Coscarelli guarantee.
