Early in the hot summer, a hungry shark is found prowling the waters of tourist-dependent Amity Island and it is up to police chief Martin Brody to hunt down and kill this deadly predator, with the help of a marine scientist and a grizzled fisherman who has seen this sort of carnage before.  Steven Speilberg's 1975 film (only his SECOND feature film!) created and perfected the summer blockbuster, and much like THE GODFATHER a few years earlier, elevated a sort of trashy paperback into High Art.
