"The bogeyman is real and you found him."

The directorial debut from musician turned writer/director Rob Zombie suffered its own Hell making its way to theaters (the film was shot in 2000 and purchased by Universal only to be shelved and repurchased by Zombie who then resold it to Lionsgate who finally gave it a proper theatrical release in 2003) but eventually found its audience of devoted Gore Geeks.

Starring genre heroes Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, and Karen Black, the film is the classic tale of the wrong people in the wrong backwoods inbred place. October 30, 1977. Two couples on a roadtrip reserching offbeat roadside attractions meet Captain Spaulding - the owner of the "Museum of Monsters & Madmen" - who tells them of a local legend, Dr. Satan. As you can imagine, things get sick, twisted and bloody from here. If you think your family has weird Halloween traditions, wait till you get ahold of The Fireflys.
