AN AMERICAN HIPPIE IN ISRAEL - Amos Sefer's 1972 masterpiece of drug culture gone awry - this Israeli celluloid cesspool stars Asher Tzarfati as an American soldier who, fresh from his experiences in Vietnam, decides to take life a whole lot easier. His plan involves traveling to Israel and hooking up with a trio of sexy swingers. When things go south and the four are trapped on an island in shark-infested without food, the peaceniks will discover the limits of their sanity.
GONE WITH THE POPE - In 1976, Duke Mitchell wrote, directed, produced and starred in one of the few (only?) pope-splotation films ever made. Four ex-convicts journey to Rome to kidnap the Pope in hopes of earning a ransom ("a dollar from every Catholic in the world.") The film remained unfinished until 2009 when Oscar-nominated editor Bob Murawski (THE HURT LOCKER) helped shape the unfinished work print (discovered in Mitchell's parking garage years after his death) into a finished film. You've never seen a movie quite like this.
