Your parents always told you that playing heavy metal records would send you straight to hell. Well, guess what? They were right. In this double feature of demonic-infused entertainment, a group of kids find a hole to hell in their backyard and, thanks to the help of heavy metal music, their house is crawling with all sorts of goblins, imps and zombies. When a new eye growing out of the palm of your hands is the least of your worries, you know your having a pretty crappy day. In the film that introduced the world to baby-faced Stephen Dorff (future enemy of Daywalkers everywhere), THE GATE pits a group of children against the forces of evil. Can you believe this insane tribute to '80s creature feature excess was marketed as a kids' movie?
In GATE II: TRESPASSERS, a wannabe Satanist’s backyard rituals summon up a second helping of the first film’s demons — all leading up to one of the craziest, most rock and roll fantasy endings you’ll see in a film this year. This is the kind of mind-freak, phantamorgasmic horror film your church-going parents warned you about. Both films will be screened from 35mm prints for your viewing pleasure. So grab your denim jacket — you know, the one with the Mötley Crüe album cover painted on the back — and hop into your sweet shag carpet-pimped out van to make your way to the Alamo Drafthouse – West Oaks for one of the best nights of your horror movie-loving life. — ADDED BONUS: This event will feature a special performance by Houston's premiere black metal band, Church ov Melkarth —
Arisen from scorn and ashes, Church ov Melkarth exists first and foremost as a cabal of esoteric occultism — gathered to channel their energy into music designed to tear down the wall between this world and the next, and align the like-minded with the 63 current.
