Believe it or not, former avenging nerd Bobcat Goldthwait has become one of the most interesting filmmakers working today, and he continues his streak with GOD BLESS AMERICA, a take-no-prisoners treatise against capitalism, commercialism and all around assholism in the present day United States. Divorced, fired and terminally ill Frank (Joel Murray) has had his fill of life, and after the indignities mount, he takes up arms and begins shooting his way through the crowd of jerks surrounding him, supported only by his teenaged friend Roxy, who hates people almost as much as Frank does.

GOD BLESS AMERICA turns carnage into slapstick, and because all laughter is involuntary you may wind up implicating yourself without even meaning to. As with [TAXI DRIVER], this one turns in on its own morality like a Möbius strip, endorsing kindness by practicing slaughter, and pulls us along for the ride.” –J.R. Jones, Chicago Reader

“Feels more like an assault weapon than a movie, possibly an AK-47. This funny, sick twist of social satire is certainly locked and loaded.” –Betsey Sharkery, Los Angeles Times

“Bobcat Goldthwait's targets are many and easy and obvious in GOD BLESS AMERICA, his satire of everything that's wrong with the world today, but he hits them squarely and in bold fashion.” –Christine Lemire, Associated Press
