Los Angeles in 1949 was anything but the City of Angels. Sean Penn (THE TREE OF LIFE, MILK) plays Mickey, the New York born mob king who oversees the majority of L.A.'s drugs, guns, and prostitutes. This is Mickey's town from his hired goons to the corrupt politicians and police. Everyone works for Mickey.
That is except for a few LAPD straight shooters, led by Josh Brolin (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN) and Ryan Gosling (DRIVE), whose main goal is to take Mickey down. Emma Stone (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN), Giovanni Ribisi, Robert Patrick, and Anthony Mackie (THE HURT LOCKER) round out a stellar cast. This throwback to 1940's Hollywood, an industry that thrived on film noir and gangster pictures, is sure to be a triumph.
