Forever Fest ‘80s Dance
18 and up. No one under 18 admitted.
This is a featured event at Forever Fest, a weekend celebration of girlie pop culture.
In real life, school dances are usually pretty lame. There's long periods of waiting for someone to ask you to dance, and then, if it actually happens, the interaction is more awkward than romantic. Your hair never looks as good as you imagined, and the moves you practiced in front of your bedroom mirror don't seem nearly as cool when other people are watching.
But in films, school dances are magical places where your entire life can change. No matter if you're a dork or an outsider, you could end up slow dancing with your secret crush, or at the very least, selling your panties to an overeager freshman.
In honor of the Forever Fest screening of SIXTEEN CANDLES, we're throwing an '80s dance where you can make up for those high school disappointments and have the best night of your life, just like in the movies.
Located in the ballroom of the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel, this dance will prove that girls just wanna have fun, with '80s hits spun by DJ F*ckin A and a costume contest judged by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan, a.k.a. the Fug Girls. (Bonus points if you make your own dress, PRETTY IN PINK style.)
Two members of the SIXTEEN CANDLES cast-- Liane Curtis (Randy) and Debbie Pollack (Marlene 'Lumberjack', a.k.a. "Sexy American Girlfriend")-- will be in attendance, signing autographs and taking pictures with fans. There will also be a SIXTEEN CANDLES photo booth so you can finally make your Jake Ryan dreams come true.
Mark your calendar and start planning your outfit now so you can look perfect when that hot senior finally asks you to dance.
