Mother-son incestuous were-cats move to a small town in Indiana, presumably to take advantage of the low property taxes.  The son sets his amorous sights on local movie theater attendant Mädchen Amick (totally understandable) because he wants to suck out her life force and give it to his mom/ f*%kbuddy (somewhat less understandable).  Eventually the day is saved by the movie’s best-developed character, Clovis the Cat.

From “the first original screenplay” by horror master Stephen King (impressive until you realize that— a few Shinings and Shawshank Redemptions aside, King-on-film tends to range from the lows of MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE to the even-lowers of THE MANGLER) and shot by King’s favorite director, Mick Garris, in his house “point-the-camera-at-the-actors-and-never-change-a-line-King-wrote” style, SLEEPWALKERS is less a study in terror, and more a forgotten gem of unintentional hilarity.
