Nacho Vigalondo, a Fantastic Fest favorite, is back with EXTRATERRESTRIAL, his follow up to 2007’s festival hit TIMECRIMES. The film starts with a simple romantic comedy set up of boy meets girl; both have some drinks and hook-up.  This film, though, is far from the likes of standard Hollywood rom-coms like KNOCKED UP. As the film begins with the two, Julio and Julia, trying to trudge threw the awkward “morning after” conversation a funny thing happens: a spaceship has parked itself in the sky a few blocks away. The sole neighbor left of Julia’s informs the two that an alien invasion has taken place.

EXTRATERRESTRIAL was a huge hit at Fantastic Fest last year and it’s easy to see why. As many films try to have fresh takes on old formulas Nacho succeeds on all levels. First and foremost this is a romantic comedy disguised as a sci-fi film, and a very funny one at that. Containing all the humor, heart and wit of Woody Allen and Billy Wilder Nacho, Nacho allows his couple to remain the heart of the film, even when a possible alien invasion has taken place. The result is a movie as fun, original, sweet and entertaining as the director himself. EXTRATERRESTRIAL is original filmmaking at its best.

"[A] funny and perceptive screenplay…focusing on a sweetly unassuming love story made fresh by the unlikely scenario." -Indiewire

"Playing like a little comedy of manners set in an overlooked corner of somebody else's big-budget genre movie…Furthers [writer/director Nacho Vigalondo's] rep for smart takes on genre pics." -The Hollywood Reporter

"...[C]ombines the Spanish director's talent for writing complex and immensely likable characters with the kind of everyday surreality that just happens to feature gigantic alien ships hovering over Barcelona." - Marc Savlov, The Austin Chronicle

"The Woody Allen of Science Fiction." -Jason Reitman
