You want to love cannibal movies. So much metaphorical potential! So much ultra-violent chaos! But then you watch one. And suddenly, you get to see what the inside of a turtle's leg looks like because a jungle savage is cutting it in half. For real. Then you feel sad. Prepare to feel un-sad. DR. BUTCHER, M.D. is the only cannibal movie that can be recommended to anyone in good conscience because it contains NO ANIMAL VIOLENCE. But you know what else it contains? ZOMBIES! Also ascots! And more zombies who are also peeping toms! This movie is a plotless, no-holds-barred mess that was cobbled together by Italians for the sole benefit of making people like us smile. By "people like us," I mean gore-starved warriors who derive sustenance from atrocious dubbing, glorious non-continuity, and sacrificial body painting in the nude. DR. BUTCHER, M.D. is a classic gross-out experience that will make you yearn for simpler, bygone days when people commandeered a yacht and watched their pals get eaten in the jungle by cannibals who wear flip-flops.
