All fads eventually fade, but few faded as quickly as the popularity of 3D movies in the early 1950s.

When Alfred Hitchcock began filming DIAL M FOR MURDER, adapted from the popular stage play and starring box-office magnet Grace Kelly, 3D was big news and Warner Brothers executives pushed Hitchcock to utilize the new format; by the time the movie was ready for release several months later, 3D was about as fresh and hot as last week's batch of popcorn. So the vast majority of moviegoers saw DIAL M FOR MURDER without putting on 3D glasses.

But for our 3/3/3D series, we're showing DIAL M the way Hitchcock intended it to be seen. So slip on your glasses, turn back the clock about 61 years and enjoy a crackling cat-and-mouse game that pits wealthy Margot (Kelly) against her money-hungry husband Tony (Ray Milland), who decides to secure his financial future by hiring a hood to bump off Margot. But Dame Fate has a few surprises up her sleeve — and so, of course, does Mr. Hitchcock. (James Sanford)
