The Coen brothers impressive first film not only made people take notice 30 years ago, but it still holds up as one of the greatest cinematic debuts of all time.

A brilliant modern film noir set against the backdrop of a desolate Texas landscape BLOOD SIMPLE is as relentless and brutal as any crime thriller you’ll ever see. Also a damn entertaining film it makes you squirm, hold your breath and laugh out loud, sometimes in the same scene. This sequence of emotion runs through the film until the end of it's climatic final scene.

Great turns by Dan Hedaya and Frances McDormand anchor an amazing cast. It’s a masterful example of the Coens’ amazing talent. And, as their career has shown, was anything but an empty promise of things to come.
