18 and up; Children 6 and up will be allowed only with a parent guardian. No children under the age of 6 will be allowed.
It’s been nine years since Jesse and Celine (Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy) first met in Vienna.
Celine runs into Jesse at a signing for his newest book in Paris. The two spend the next hour reminiscing and catching up before Jesse has to fly home to Chicago. These days Celine has a boyfriend and is a photographer; Jesse is a writer with a wife and son.
Soon the two begin to reveal the emotional fears and start to wonder what their lives would’ve been like if they continued their one night together in Vienna into a relationship and Jesse starts to seriously contemplate missing his flight back home.
Written by Richard Linklater and his two leads, BEFORE SUNSET adds a dose of melancholy and pathos to the BEFORE trilogy. Where BEFORE SUNRISE is undoubtedly romantic, BEFORE SUNSET is emotionally nuanced and mature. All three writers execute an honest, beautiful evolution of these two characters that is rarely seen in American movies.
