“…a dizzying and rapturous noir melodrama…” (Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian)
“Bad Education" is a voluptuous experience that invites you to gorge on its beauty and vitality…” (Stephen Holden, The New York Times)
Considered Almodóvar’s most autobiographical work, BAD EDCUATION leaves nothing to be desired in terms of the director’s unmistakable style and distinct palette. Enrique (Fele Martínez) is a successful filmmaker short on ideas for his next project until his long-lost, dreamboat boyhood crush, Ignacio (Gael García Bernal) shows up with a script based on the abuse they suffered together in Catholic school… mostly. It also includes the story of Zahara (Gael in drag) and Paca (Javier Camara, TALK TO HER, also in drag) and they are on a mission to track down the pedophiliac priest and make him pay. The plot lines blur in the twisted melodrama, but it's so much fun it's easy to see why BAD EDUCATION was honored with being the opening night film at Cannes 2004.
