Come out to a free showing of the award-winning feature length documentary Art from the Streets. The film follows five artists experiencing homelessness during a year within Austin’s own Art from the Streets program. Art from the Streets provides artists experiencing homelessness with a purpose, a sense of community, and income. And, oh yeah, there’s lots of great art, too!
Begin this special event by looking at some of the current Art from the Streets art. Mingle with the artists and volunteers from the program. Then, grab your seat for the movie! Save up your questions, and movie director Layton Blaylock and Art from the Streets artists and volunteers will have a short Q&A after the show. You can even buy the movie or art you see at the event!
This event is part of Austin’s Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week 2011. Tickets to the event are free, but you can reserve your space by purchasing a $5 food voucher. To find out more about this or other Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week events, visit our website.
