Featuring WHY MAN CREATES (1968) and QUEST (1984) on 35mm, as well as other rarities!
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Academy Film Archive and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema are proud to present this afternoon of short works by legendary director and graphic designer Saul Bass.
While the Drafthouse cinephiles are no doubt familiar with the many notable title sequences designed by Saul Bass (PSYCHO, THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM, WEST SIDE STORY), his equally brilliant short films, although by comparison criminally underseen, are worth more than a mere look and are due for critical consideration. This selection of rare and uncommonly seen Saul Bass short works is culled from the Academy Film Archive’s Saul Bass Collection.
The show will be hosted by May Haduong, the Academy Film Archive’s Public Access Manager. (Sam Prime)
