AGFA Reel One Party
18 and up; Children 6 and up will be allowed only with a parent guardian. No children under the age of 6 will be allowed.
At a secret location in Austin, there's a huge 35mm film archive known as the American Genre Film Archive (AGFA), containing the rarest and wildest exploitation titles in cinema history!
Many of the 35mm film prints contained in the AGFA archive are not fully documented, so periodic inspections are conducted where we get together and watch several "reel ones" (the first 15-20 minutes) of otherwise unknown or mysterious films. We want to see the stuff like the actual credit information and overall condition of the print, but more so we just want to answer questions like "What is it?", "Why is it?" and "When can we watch the rest of it?". No one knows what to expect, including us, so we're not promising that this won't kill you. But more likely it will just destroy your reality. Come share the act of discovery with other human beings and also get drunk if you want. Past Reel One screenings have uncovered some true gems -- MIAMI CONNECTION! -- and some real snoozers -- SLAP IN THE FACE, starring Curd Jurgens -- but it is always a stupid adventure.
All proceeds from ticket sales benefit AGFA in its mission to raise awareness of the importance of genre cinema through collection, conservation, and distribution.
