At every installment of the AGFA Deep Tracks series, we invite you to view a film from the murky depths of the American Genre Film Archive vault, with all proceeds benefiting the Archive. Our April title is: WEEKEND WARRIORS (AKA: HOLLYWOOD AIR FORCE). The one and only feature film directed by Bert Convy, better known as the on-air host of Super Password and countless other TV game shows, WEEKEND WARRIORS is a film in the tradition of AIRPLANE! (1980). WEEKEND WARRIORS is a riotous, sophomoric send-up of Hollywood wannabes, the National Guard, and the Armed Forces in general. In one particularly memorable scene, the new recruits bond over a bean-eating competition, which ends with a record-setting nuclear blast fart. Starring Lloyd Bridges, Chris Lemmon (Jack Lemmon’s son), and Vic Tayback (not Jack Lemmon’s son), WEEKEND WARRIORS is a rare and one-of-a-kind romp. (Sam Prime)
