Mother’s Day Edition: LITTLE WOMEN

Long before women wondered if they were a Carrie, Samantha, Miranda or Charlotte, girls have been classifying themselves as one of the March sisters.

If you’re traditional, you’re Meg (Trini Alvarado); if you’re unbelievably angelic, you’re Beth (Claire Danes); if you’re silly and vain, you’re Amy (Kirsten Dunst), although you probably won’t admit it; and if you’re unconventional, you’re definitely a Jo (Winona Ryder).

But I think we can all agree that the best character in Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel is Marmee (Susan Sarandon), the loving, patient and deeply feminist matriarch of the March clan. She’s an inspiring portrait of motherhood and a reminder of the vital role our moms have played in our lives.
