Portia (Fey) is an uptight Princeton admissions officer who spends her day recruiting students for the prestigious university. One day she receives an unexpected call from a college classmate (Rudd) who wants her to recruit one of his students.

He runs an alternative high school and it turns out he believes that his impressive student might be Portia’s son that she gave up for adoption. Portia decides to get close to him in order to know for sure, even it means putting her career on the line by altering his transcript.

To her surprise this new relationship lets Portia embrace life like never before.
