Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster 300, this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield — on the sea — as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

300: Rise of an Empire pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemesia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

To celebrate the new film, we're partnering up with our local neighbors at No Label Brewing Co. and pairing their taps with a Mediterranean/Greek menu. Each dish is inspired by traditional recipes from the region in which the movie takes place:

A very common Greek appetizer, this spinach pie comes with feta and is highlighted with dill, nutmeg and ricotta cheese. Served over cucumber salad.

Khoresh Fesenjan
A Turkish dish very common with traveling nomads, this pomegranate stew is prepared by slowly cooking chicken in pomegranate before seasoning with walnuts, cardamom and sugar. Served with flat bread.

Soutzoukakia and Iskender Kebab
Inspired by both Greek and Persian cuisine comes a mixture of Smyrna meatballs and pork kebab. Both the meatballs and the pork kebabs are grilled and simmered in a tomato sauce before being served over rice and a side of Dolmathakia, a Greek stuffed grape leaf with pine nuts, rice, mint, rice, and dill.
Paired with No Label Pale Horse

A sweet custard with phyllo dough, this desert is made from semolina and topped with phyllo dough. It will be accompanied by pomegranate ice cream.
