Stand-up comedy icon Patton Oswalt has been bringing a movie around Los Angeles, showing everyone he knows a new discovery.
Television-insanity pioneers Tim and Eric are just two of the many converts, so enthused about the film that they hosted its Los Angeles premiere last year.
Oswalt and Tim and Eric are some pretty funny guys, definitely "hip" to the strange side of our culture's funny bone. What deranged masterpiece could get these people so excited?
A little film called BIRDEMIC: SHOCK AND TERROR, what some are calling a "romantic thriller," others a "horror film," and still others a "comedy" of the TROLL 2 variety.
Here's how writer/producer/director James Nguyen describes BIRDEMIC:
"A platoon of eagles & vultures attack the residence of a small town. Many people died. It's not known what caused the flying menace to attack. Two people managed to fight back, but will they survive BIRDEMIC?"
The film is loosely based on an Alfred Hitchcock movie, but don't sell it short as simply a suspense film. Think of it more like THE BIRDS meets THE ROOM, and you'll get a picture of what's going viral in LA.
First of all, you have to see the trailer:
I know, I know, you're pretty excited. Well, ladies and germs, we've arranged to show BIRDEMIC next week. That makes us the third theatrical screening of the film in the world. On Tuesday, March 2, we're showcasing BIRDEMIC at 7:00pm.
That's not all, either. Thanks to the very good people at SEVERIN FILMS, we will have a Q&A with director Nguyen and some special guests from the film, and we will feature a display of props and costumes from the movie as well.
You've got to come see what Vice Magazine calls the "New Best Worst Movie Ever."
