Tickets now on sale for the Fantastic Fest Gala Events at the Paramount Theater!

ff-2009-webSome Fantastic Fest events are just too big to squeeze into the worn-in, comfort-fit pants of the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.  We loooove that 99% of the festival takes place at a single location- it adds a level of camaraderie and shared experience few festivals can offer, like a massive movie nerd slumber party all week long- but it's also a fact that our biggest theater can only seat about 220 people.  So, when some of these XXXL cinema juggernauts come knocking, we move them over to the gorgeous and decidedly gigantic-er Paramount Theater to share the experience with as many people as we can.  It also means that Austinites who've not yet sampled the forbidden delights of the Fest have a chance to chip off a their own little golden sliver of what Fantastic Fest is all about.

That's right, these shows are open to the general public!

This year we're having four big shows at the Paramount over the course of three nights. Tickets went on sale today at noon, so read fast and get your tickets now!

GENTLEMEN BRONCOS with Director Jared Hess (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE), Jerusha Hess, Jemaine Clement, Mike White and Sam Rockwell in attendance!

gentlemen-broncs-blog6With GENTLEMEN BRONCOS, Jared and Jerusha Hess return to form with many of the elements that made NAPOLEON DYNAMITE such a break out cult hit. Like Napoleon before him, Benjamin Purvis (Michael Angarano) is a loner misfit who would rather spend his time alone in his room honing his craft than interact with other kids his own age. But while Napoleon was all about nunchuk skills and drawing ligers, Benjamin dreams of just one thing: being a published fantasy/science fiction writer, like his hero Ronald Chevalier (Jemaine Clement).

ZOMBIELAND Premiere Event

zombieland-blogColumbia Pictures’ horror comedy ZOMBIELAND focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) is a big wuss – but when you're afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) is an AK-totin’, zombie-slayin’ badass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies.

SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD with George A. Romero in attendance!

george_romero_013In 2007, Fantastic Fest was honored by the presence of one of the true masters of horror, George A. Romero. Now, two years later, we are thrilled to welcome back the undisputed champion of all things undead for his latest blood-drenched thrill ride, SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD. When the idyllic retreat of Plum Island falls victim to the zombie plague, a new breed of clan war breaks out. On one side is the camp who want to exterminate all undead, and on the other side, devoted family members take the stance that “zombie-ism” is a disease, the undead have rights and they must be kept alive until a cure is found. An undead parallel to the tribal wars that are plaguing our own society today, SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD exposes the futility of such conflict and the need for tolerance of the beliefs of others. Plus it’s got zombie horses in it!
