Tickets now on sale for the opening weekend of BLUE RUIN!

BLUE RUIN opens this weekend at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The film, an intense, unpredictable thriller, is the latest Drafthouse Recommends title.

BLUE RUIN is a smaller film – it doesn’t boast a star-studded cast or elaborate action set pieces. What it does feature, though, is one of the wildest, most heart-wrenching scripts to come down the pike in the revenge sub-genre since ROLLING THUNDER. Macon Blair stars a drifter – living under a bridge in a life of equal parts sadness and simplicity. When the past rears its ugly head, dredging up personal demons in the process, Blair’s Dwight embarks on a roadtrip fueled by vengeance. Along the way he’ll find himself caught in a web of revenge that proves impossible to escape. Jeremy Saulnier (MURDER PARTY) writes and directs.

I can’t recommend BLUE RUIN enough for those looking for something that will have them on the edge of their seats, their hearts in their throats. But don’t take my word for it. Here are some excerpts from a few reviews for the film:

From Ain’t It Cool News’ Nordling:

“There's an inevitability and a sadness to BLUE RUIN that is difficult to shake, and while you can see the path that Dwight walks down, the movie has enough twists to keep audiences guessing throughout.  BLUE RUIN is a brutal, cold movie, but it's not a detached experience.  Macon Blair's performance doesn't let us off the hook, and we feel complicit in his need for vengeance.  Anchored by an extraordinary performance by Blair, full of stunning directing and writing, and deeply emotional and resonant, BLUE RUIN is a movie that deserves to be talked about and seen.  It's always a treat to see a film and know that you're seeing the birth of a singularly great director and actor, and BLUE RUIN should just be the beginning of some amazing work by Jeremy Saulnier and Macon Blair.  Make sure you see this when it opens next year.”

From Badass Digest’s Devin Faraci:

“Saulnier teases unbelievable tension from the smallest of moments. A scene where Dwight waits in an empty house becomes an exercise in almost unendurable stress - one that pays off in spectacular fashion. BLUE RUIN isn’t just a smart, gritty meditation on the nature of vengeance, it’s also a terrifically entertaining movie that belongs alongside other classic revenge films like OLDBOY, DEATH WISH and ROLLING THUNDER.”
