The SXSW Party Continues at the Highball: DATAPOP

The last few nights have been unforgettable, chaotic parties at the Highball - Sunday's THE FP DDR party had our legs sore, but they healed for last night's FUBAR Premiere Metal Soiree. Last night's party was so awesome, in fact, than none other than Jon Hamm (half of the avant-garde restaurateurs Hamm & Bublé, but better known as Don MFin' Draper) showed up to party. The mere presence of that harbinger of hip proves that the Highball is the place to be when the sun goes down on SXSW.

And tonight is no exception. Fantastic Arcade and Ambhar Tequila present Datapop, the 8-bit music dance party. Starting at 9pm, they'll be presenting the hottest blip musicians in a FREE show at the Highball.

If you’re not familiar with 8-bit music, here are two things you need to know:

1. You now have plans for tonight.

2. Basically, 8-bit music is what happens when artists take the sounds from computer and gaming consoles like the Nintendo Gameboy and Atari Commodore 64 and tweak it like mad scientists to create a sound unlike anything you’ve heard. What results in concert is an organic and absolutely infectious set of beats that will take you back to the days when cheat codes and Trapper Keepers were the hit, while also keeping you on the dance floor until the early hours.

So, like I said, we’ll see you there! Check out the line-up:
