I am incredibly intrigued by the pop culture phenomenon that is Chatroulette. No matter how you slice it, Chatroulette provides instant world wide web zaniness. It’s a wonderful cross section of giggly high schoolers and creepy perverts dressed in cheetah leotards; no matter who you run across, what nationality they are, or what time of day it is, the results are sure to be … um…. interesting. Oh also, it has a reputation for lots of dudes showing off their peens.
ANYWAY- the best documentary-style film since District 9, the Last Exorcism opens on Friday the 27th in Austin at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, in the Houston area at Alamo Drafthouse Mason and West Oaks, in San Antonio at the Alamo Park North and Westlakes and in Virginia at the Alamo Drafthouse Winchester. In an effort to drum up awareness, producer Eli Roth and crew have taken the gospel to Chatroulette. The results are pretty great. Check it out:
Eli Roth and Director Daniel Stamm did a sneak screening the movie at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar for Fantastic Fest badge holders last week and all I can say is "wow." Be sure to see this in theaters before you hear about it from a stranger on the street or worse; from some sick jokester on a particular internet video chat site. The acting, the sound design, and good golly- the ending all add up to a top-notch, must-see film!
