Texas Independent Film Network series continues with DANCE WITH THE ONE screening

This October we’re continuing our partnership with the Texas Independent Film Network with a screening of DANCE WITH THE ONE.

The TIFN is a statewide coalition of film societies, universities and independent theaters united for the purpose of screening Texas independent film. Once a month TIFN takes a different Texas film on a tour across the state. There, they partner with respected film organizations such as SWAMP (Southwest Alternate Media Project) to help spread the word and guide programming decisions.

On October 6, we will be screening the film DANCE WITH THE ONE, a movie created through the University of Texas Film Institute. A Texas film made by Texans for Texans, the movie is a tense thriller about a teenager who finds his family targeted by a drug-runner. Gabriel Luna stars as Nate, a small-time pot dealer who is haunted by the tragic death of his mother. After a botched attempt to make one final big score, Nate finds his world shaken and his already rocky relationship with his drug dealing father seriously tested.

The film has screened at South by Southwest and the Dallas International Film Festival and now Houston audiences will have a chance to watch the film themselves at this one-night-only screening. Don’t miss this opportunity to support a Texas filmmaker and watch a movie made from the same shared experiences and culture as ourselves.

UPDATE: DANCE WITH THE ONE star Dana Wheeler-Nicholson will be in attendance the night of the screening. Wheeler-Nicholson has previously starred in films such as FLETCH and TOMBSTONE in addition to having a recurring role in FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.
