If you grew up sometime during the ‘80s, there’s a good chance that somewhere deep within your center exists a soft spot for the 1985 comedy PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE. Maybe it’s the incredible score by Danny Elfman. It could be the tireless performance by Paul Reubens as Pee-wee Herman, perpetually grinning man-child and friend to truckers everywhere. Or maybe it’s just the fact that the movie is pure and simple fun. Whatever the reason, we love PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE and we’re guessing you do too.
The film not only introduced director Tim Burton to the world, it gave us one of the best road trip movies ever produced. When Pee Wee’s prized bike is stolen, he sets off on a cross-country trip though the heartland of America. From San Antonio to Los Angeles, Pee-wee is on the prowl for his bike. Well, while he won’t find it in our basement (there’s no basement in the Alamo), there will be a free screening of the classic comedy on Saturday, October 29 at Mason Park.
Teaming up with 8th Dimension Comics & Games and Ain’t It Cool News, we’re throwing a Pee-wee-sized Halloween party for the entire family. Bring the little ones and introduce them to one of the funniest films to ride that line between adult humor and child-appropriate silliness. PEE-WEE is a movie most any age group can enjoy and that’s why we’re screening it as the second installment of our new ALAMO KIDS CLUB.
We’ll have games (let’s just say you should work on your dance move), some giveaways and anybody who comes dressed up in a Halloween costume will receive a free bag of popcorn!
We’re screening the movie from a studio archival 35mm print so this is the best possible opportunity you’ll have all year to see PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE on the big screen. And hey, you can’t beat the price!
