SXSW (bargain) film passes available at the Alamo!
Austin's biggest film event of the year is only about two weeks away- do you have your badge yet?
SXSW is like Christmas, Hanukkah, Lughnassadh and Eid all giving a big, wet kiss to Austin cinephiles at the same time...and it feels good. Loving. And not awkward or forced, like Cannes. If you've never been a part of the action, this is the year to pucker up.
The Alamo Drafthouse has been a long-time friend of the festival, but this year, we're taking our relationship to a new level. If you read this blog, then you've probably heard about Fantastic Fest at SXSW, which is a huge honor for us, but what you haven't heard is that, this year, bargain SXSW film passes will be available at Alamo Drafthouse Box Offices! Only $70.00! They're not 'badges', so they won't get you into any of the panels, but if you're only interested seeing some films, you can't beat the price. So go to your neighborhood Alamo Drafthouse and get one already.
And check back here, because we're going to post some of the best (and most likely) screenings for the badge-less pass-holders. You see, during the 2nd half of the festival, after all the tuxedo'd LA execs have gone home, lines to some of the best screenings become a lot shorter...but the film stays the same!
Also, for those of you living in the year 2009, you can text 'joinfilmfan' to 4SXSW (47979) for festival updates, special offers and more...you might even win a pair of film passes...but you should still go to your neighborhood Alamo Drafthouse!
SXSW, we love you.
