"There was a time, a time before cable. When the local anchorman reigned supreme. When people believed everything they heard on TV. This was an age when only men were allowed to read the news. And in San Diego, one anchorman was more man then the rest. His name was Ron Burgundy. He was like a god walking amongst mere mortals. He had a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo..."
All of those reasons -- and more! -- is why ANCHORMAN just hasn’t faded from pop culture.
Released in 2004, ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY what happens when diversity (which is not an old, old wooden ship from the Civil War era) comes crashing into the manly, scotch-soaked world of 1970s news anchor Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) and the Channel Four news team (Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell, and David Koechner). But times are changing and ladies, like aspiring anchorwoman Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), can do stuff now. Can the Channel Four news team learn to deal with it? Or will they douse themselves in Sex Panther, and drive Corningstone out of the news business?
It’s impossible to talk about ANCHORMAN, let alone watch it, without repeating every one of its awesome quotes. That’s why Alamo Drafthouse Littleton is hosting the Action Pack: ANCHORMAN Quote-Along on April 11 at 7:00pm.
Normally, we discourage audiences from talking during a film, but during our signature Quote-Alongs, we demand it. But our Action Pack Quote-Alongs aren’t just about parroting the funniest lines. They're a fully interactive event. We’ll have ANCHORMAN inspired games and contests before the film, and you’ll receive a bag of props to use during the movie's most memorable scenes. (Yes, there will be jazz flute and mustaches.)
Our full food and drink menu will also be available during the Quote-Along, so if belting “Afternoon Delight” leaves you parched and starving, you can order yourself and Dorothy Mantooth a nice dinner. Simply write your order down on the paper provided, fold it up, and pop it into the metal rail on your table. Our Channel 2 server team will grab it, and bring your order before you can say “The human torch was denied a bank loan.”
You can also order a drink – a nice scotchy scotchy Scotch, perhaps? – at the ticket booth, and take it to your seat, so you can start sipping long before the Quote-Along rolls. Our bar, Glass Half Full, will also be open if you require more food and drink after the Quote-Along. Remember, you never need a movie ticket to visit Glass Half Full, so if you’re craving a Manhattan with the vermouth kicked to the side with steel-toed boots, this is the place to get it.
Tickets for our April 11th ANCHORMAN Quote-Along on are on sale now. Great Odin’s raven, reserve yours today!
