In just a few days, the exhilaration of Formula 1 racing will rush onto the silver screen as the new Universal Pictures movie RUSH, directed by two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ron Howard, premieres in theaters nationwide. Circuit of The Americas, the only F1™ racetrack in the country and home to the FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX, is partnering with the new Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline and The Horn-ESPN Austin radio to throw a special Rush premiere party on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Film buffs and motorsports enthusiasts can catch the critically acclaimed movie depicting the real-life competition between F1 drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda, whose exploits on and off the track made headlines in the 1970s, F1 racing’s golden era. The epic-action drama stars Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers) as the charismatic Englishman Hunt and Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds) as the disciplined Austrian perfectionist Lauda, whose clashes around the Grand Prix racing circuit epitomized the contrast between these two extraordinary characters, a distinction reflected in their private lives.
Alamo Drafthouse will offer two special showings of Rush on Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. and 2:25 p.m. CDT at its Lakeline location at 14028 North U.S. Highway 183, Building F, Austin, Texas 78717. Fans can enter drawings to win tickets to the 2013 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX set for Nov. 15-17 at Circuit of The Americas and check out a real Williams F1 Team show car. Additionally, the Speed City team from The Horn-ESPN Austin will provide live reports throughout the afternoon. The party officially begins at 11 a.m. CDT, and theater-goers are invited to arrive early to take pictures with the Williams F1 car and meet the Circuit’s COTA Girl ambassadors.
